Selecting the proper type of welding torch tips for the metal
Lighting the torch and adjusting the regulators on the gas cylinders or torch to get the proper flame
Applying the torch flame to the metal until it melts
Applying a metal filler to bond the molten areas together
Selecting a suitable electrode (welding rod)
Adjusting the electric current on the power source according to the types of metals being welded
"Striking" an arc by touching the electrode to the metal to be welded and completing an electric circuit
